About Us

The Matt Ulrich Foundation works to support the community in the areas of fitness, education, and mental health awareness.

Working within the extended community, we are deeply motivated to help those who live in and around the area in a multitude of ways. This is accomplished by forming partnerships with other individuals and organizations in Allen County, to facilitate youth mentoring, make scholarships available, and encourage health and fitness. Partnerships include S.H.Y.A.A. and Mentors3.

Our Mission

“Providing support in fitness, education, and mental health for the betterment of community”

About Matt Ulrich

Matt Ulrich grew up in Delphos, Ohio. He was the son of Ed and Kathy Ulrich and had two younger brothers: Andy and Scott. Matt was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. Matt also performed in band and was a lead in the school play. He earned an undergraduate degree from Capital University where he also played football. In 2003 he received his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School. Matt worked as an attorney for the Franklin County Children’s Services and CASA (Court-Appointed Special Advocates).

Matt was a great friend to many. He was an unforgettable person with a soaring intellect, expressive wit, and enormous potential. Unfortunately, his achievements were cut short at the age of 38 upon his passing. His impact as a family member, friend, and advocate of those who could not advocate for themselves will be remembered and carried on through the involvement of the Matt Ulrich Foundation which was founded and dedicated in his honor in 2017.

The board connection to Matt

Members of the board are all graduates of Delphos Jefferson and St. John’s High Schools. We were all long-time friends of Matt. We grew up with Matt, played sports with him, and were his classmates and friends. Although each of us had a different relationship with Matt, we share a common bond – through our unique friendships and experiences with Matt, we see an opportunity to carry on Matt’s legacy to serve the community and advocate for those who most need a voice.

Board Members are:
